The Putaruru Rugby Union’s games were advanced a further stage on Saturday, when Arapuni defeated Putaruru after a somewhat ragged game, especially in the first half, by 17 to 13. Arapur.i had the best of the game in the first session but the home team improved in the second half and ran the winners to within three points. Fcr Arapuni the scorers were Rohan (2), Rangi (2), Hike. Kite converted one try. For Putaruru the scorers were Paterson (penalty goal), Quinn (try), Morton (try). Paterson converted two tries. Mr. Ecklur.d (Arapuni) was the referee. Cambridge 15, Matamata 6. Tins match was played at Cambridge on Saturday on a slightly holding ground. Cambridge won by 15 points to 6. On the run of the play the locals were the superior side in both departments, though the visitors were without the services of several of their prominent players. Morrinsville 16, Taupiri 0. Morrinsville played Taupiri on Saturday at Ngaruawahia, winning by 16 points (four unconverted tries and a potted goal) to 0. S. Thomas potted a goal half-way through the first quarter, and at the end of the second quarter»C. Brown scored. In the third quarter Campbell, J. Brown and A. Cameron crossed the line. With the exception of the last part of the fourth quarter Morrinsville held the upper hand through the game, the Morrinsville forwards being the dominant factor.
