“ There was only one deplorable incident in connection with the visitation,” remarked the Rev. L McMaster at the conclusion of his report to the Christchurch Presbytery on the visitation of St. John’s Church, Lj-ttelton (states the Christchurch Star). “It wasn’t the fault of the minister nor the fault of the congregation, but I think it was the fault of the Presbytery. I move that in future the Presbytery appoint a Scotsman to their visitation commissions. I forgot to take up the collection.” (Laughter).
