FANCY DRESS DANCE.
LIST OF COSTUMES. A very successful fancy dress dance, held under the auspices of the Anglican Ladies’ Guild, eventuated on Friday evening. The fourteen parts of the Putaruru parochial district were strongly represented. Holland’s Orchestra (Matamata) provided first-class music. Mr. A. E. Barr Brown was the ideal M.C., indefatigable in looking after the dancers’ interests. Quite a number were in fancy costume, and tile judges, Mesdames Fitzgerald, Macky (Tirau), Allwood (Lichfield), Messrs Fitzgerald and Seton, had quite a task in making the awards. The following were the prize winners:— Best Ladies. Miss Iremonger, Mephistopheles. Best Gentleman.—Mr. Trevor W. Stringer, Pirate. Most Original Costume.—Ladies: Miss R. Gallagher. Scarecrow. Gentleman: Mr. Farrelly, Scarecrow. Amongst those in fancy dress were the following:—Mesdames T. W. Stringer. 18th Century Lady; Church, Cards 500: Donnelly, Gipsy; A.
