WELCOME HOME.
One evening last week a number of local residents gathered on the lawn in front of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson’s residence to take part in the time-honoured custom of tincanning the bride and bridegroom. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson were evidently not of a musical turn of mind, as it was not long before they came out to request the musicians to cease from their efforts and enter the portals. The health of the happy couple was toasted with musical honours and responded to by Mr. Thompson, who extended a very cordial welcome on behalf of Mrs. Thompson and himself. Amongst the apologies tendered for unavoidable absence was one on behalf of thirty-two footballers, but they hoped to be there another night. The spirit of the occasion was thoroughly entered into and a very enjoyable evening terminated just at midnight. Amongst those present were: Mesdames Leggatt, Coupe, Murphy, McDermott, L. Francis, Haslett, J. Francis, Dukeson and the Misses Lee and Coupe; Messrs. Murphy, Bailey, Bodmin, Christy, Francis. Smith, McDermott, Scholz, Dukeson.
