The man on the land is used to taking hard knocks, so that he will no doubt take the latest rub from the matrimonial columns of a recent issue of an Auckland paper quite philosophically. It reads : “ Widow, refined, wishes to correspond with a gentleman or farmer.” Perhaps the author of the above is the perpetrator of the joke anent “ You’ll know father in the pigsty because of his hat.”
