MINERAL PIG FOODS.
No domestic animal possesses the Instinct of knowing what its system requires better than the pig, says an Australian farming journal, and the same claim can be made respecting the crav ing for mineral matter which is not so manifest in any other farm anhnalsi
Should the requisite amount of min eral matter needed for the growth of the animal be not supplied in their food, the pigs will, .if given their liberty; find in the earth that which they need , Anyone who has had anything to do with pjgs must have noticed this, strong desire for mineral substances, particularly in the case of growing animals and breeding sows. Mineral matter in a natural state, as is found in the- eaTth. or in the form of niorganic salts in bui;i,it wood, bones and vegetation, is essential for pigs* and is utilised not only for the formation of the skeleton, bpt in the case of brood sows is necessary for the tie velopment of the unborn young.
