Tokoroa 3, Putaruru 0. Putaruru kicked off and set up a hot attack, only good defensive play keeping them out. Play was confined to the forwards during the first quarter. Tokoroa pressed hard in the second quarter and a series of high kicks took place. Bullott kicked and the bounce beating the Putaruru backs, Tokoroa forwards broke through and Milne touched down. The kick failed. Tokoroa 3, Putaruru 0. The third quarter play was brighter, with good dribbling by the forwards, Ensor being a tower of strength to Putaruru. Snappy passing rushes were met with determined defence. From a penalty Patterson struck the post, the ball going behind. Rahiri and Smith also had unsuccessful shots for Putaruru. The last quarter was a ding-dong struggle, both sides being very fit. Tokoroa did some wonderful defending as Putarui-u hammered away on their line. The defence held and a good game resulted; Tokoroa 3, Putaruru 0. Mr.Ecklund was referee. PUTARURU v. MATAMATA.
