CROQUET AFTERNOON.

On Tuesday of last week the members of the Putaruru Croquet Club gave an afternoon to their piesident, Mrs. J. Francis, on the lav/ns. Various games were played, the following ladies being the prize Winners:—Clock golf, Mrs. Coupe 1, Mrs. F. C. Barrett 2. Target croquet: Mrs. Francis 1, Mrs. Berman 2. Golf croquet: Mrs. Campbell 1. Progressive croquet: Mrs. ■ Francis 1, Mrs. Halse 2. The consolation prize was awarded to Mrs. Allwood. A very delicious afternoon tea was served, the table being decorated with chrysanthemums and autumn leaves. On behalf of the club, Mrs. Coupe presented M-s. Francis with a i,oyui Doulton cup, saucer and plate. The ladies present were Mesdames Allwood, Barnett, Coupe, Boyes, Campbell, Berman, McGowan, Henshaw, Rainger, Spear, Halse and Francis.
