TUI TRACK.

SAND ASKED FOR. County Council Petitioned. Messrs. G. Watt and G. Story, of Okauia, waited on the Matamata County Council on Friday with reference to the Tui track or road. I Mr. Watt, who acted as spokesIman, presented a petition signed by Messrs. G. Watt, F. W. H. Mason, Geo. Story, L. C. Wooderson, J. C. Steer, and E. Timinia, which asked the council to regrade and sand the road mentioned, which led to their j properties. There was about a mile ! altogether, and the road and bridges j were in a bad state, and those sign- | ir.g had trouble in getting their I manure in. The petition ooncluded ! by suggesting that now was a suiti

able time to regrade and sand the j road. Heavy rain beating on the council 1 windows prompted the engineer to ! remark: “You would not suggest the ! work be done now, would you?” j Mr. Watt (smiling): The weather J was fine when we drew this up. I (Laughter). Cr. Wilson stated he had been trying to arrange for something to be done for some time. The portion near the main road had been done but this request was for the bit at the far end. After the deputation had retired the chairman remarked that the re-

r j quest was very reasonable and he ] moved the matter be left with the ' riding member and engineer, with j power to act. ! This suggestion was unanimously j agreed to.
