A worthy member, a commercial traveller, has been added to the. royal and ancient order of anglers during the past few days (says the Southland Times). Something of a sensation was caused in the township of Wyndham when armed with a rod and line, the enthusiastic novice recently set out on a fishing expedition. Throwing his line into the Mataura river from the bridge spanning it, he was successful in hooking a trout within a very short time. Overcome with zeal, the traveller thrust the rod into the hands of a bystander and descended to the river bank and waded out to the armpits. He then asked for the rod, and after a prolonged struggle succeeded in landing the fish amidst much jubilation. What warranted the inclusion of the commercial traveller in the order cf anglers, however, was the fact that the trout weighed 311 b, and that by the time the news spread to V/ynJham its description was 3i feet.
