TAURANGA MEETING. Always a popular meeting as fains the East Coast is concerned, the Tauranga meeting, with the railway connection, now promises to rank with the best of the Auckland provincial clubs. The acceptances for Saturday are a, record for the club and racing promises to be most enjoyable. A number of horses have double and some treble engagements, so that the actual number of starters in the various races will be less than a casual glance of the acceptance list would indicate. The Jack Jumper is rehandicapped for the Trial Plate and has a good ! weight to carry. Tanetoa should have unproved since Te Aroha, while Swift Light has beer: . running forward enough to warrant support. Probably j The Jack Jumper, Swift Light and ’ Ladv Mestor will carry most money. * Prince Val is down for an engagbj ment in the Maunganui Handicap and also in the Herries’ Memorial Hack Cup. There is a race between these two so that Mr. Clothier’s horse, may start twice. The public will probably pick Prince Val, Arcade and Flapperette to carry most investments. Queen Arch is nicely placed in the Cup race, and will certainly he fav.ourite. Hakanoa and Far North will also be nibbled at. Prince Val looks to have a nice chance of annexing the Hack Cup Next in demand may be Peketahi and Brampton. Lucy Rose is rehandicappcd for the Greerton Handicap, and may not take on the journey. With Reid’s mare out New Moon with 7.10 will carry money, as will also Waltzer. If Joy Germ is as good as some think the chance is offered in the President’s Hack Handicap, of making good. Arcade and The Jack Jumper will share favouritism with Joy Germ.
The open six furlongs has several good performers engaged, and a number of horses are without credentials. Lucy Rose (if started). New Moon and Hakanoa may be the choice on the machine. The County Stakes has The .Tsck Jumper in position of honour. Much will depend on previous running, but Swift Light, The Jack Jumper and Waitakohe may be the select.
