PUTARURU CLUB. The Putaruru Bowling Club’s competitions were continued on the local greens over the week-end. Results: Handicap and Francis (s) 35 beat Brown and Lindsay (s) 31. Championship Singles.—King 'l9 beat Holland 13; Yandle 20 beat King 13; Yandle 15 beat Snell 13; Francis 26 beat Yandle 18. Singles Handicap Final.—Snell 23 beat Francis 14. FERNS COMPETITION AT SELWYN. The Ferns competition played by the Selwyn Bowling Club over the ■\yeek-end provided a close contest. The holders of the trophies succeeded in their retention by four points. Result: J. Murphy, H. * Lindsay, S. Hudson, T. Weir (s) £3 beat J. Campbell, I. Rolfe, I. King, T. Holland (s) 19. -- • TIRAU V. TE AROHA. The Tirau and Te Aroha clubs played an inter-club match at Tirau on Wednesday, I'e Aroha winning by 70—50. Te Aroha congratulated the Tirau club on the condition of its green and thanked the members for their hospitality. The results were, Te Aroha players being 1 mentioned first in each game:— Fitzpatrick, Wallis, Horton, Childerhouse (s), 31, v. S. Bear, Kohi, A. Stewart, W. H. Allen (s), 10. Loveridge, C. S. KITTY KISSES KITTY. What is said to be a very remarkable incident and one not liable to happen “ once in a thousand years,” occurred at the Avon Bowling Club’s green during play to determine the singles champion of the Central Division. Clemow (Eltham) sent down a drive, which shifted the kitty sharply across the green, and it collided with the kitty on the next rink. On this rink a bowl was just coming down at the time and the umpire, Mr. J. Masters, had just time to replace ._the kitty to enable the bow! to reg’etef a touch. CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS. G. Stewart played at Cambridge for the champion singles Waikato group 4. In the final against J. Buckley, of Franktoh Railway, the scores were : Stewart 21, Buckley 20 ; Stewart 10, Buckley 23 ; Stewart 24, Buckley 11. Stewart will play in the tournament at Hamilton on Friday against the winners of the other three groups. FULL-RINK CHAMPIONSHIP. The Matamata rink, B. Barnes, J. Green, A. Oates, W. Crabb (s), played G. Lymbums Hamilton East rink in the final of group 4 of the South Auckland centre’s full-rink championship on Saturday and won by 28 to 20. TIRAU CLUB. _ Further games in the Tirau club’s singles championship are : T. Little beat A. Totman, after on a extra head, 20—19 ; J. Watson beat W. H. Allen, 20—17.
