A Run of Bad Luck. Mr. B. A. Winter and his family have been very unfortunate during the past two or three weeks. Firstly, the boy John was taken to Rotorua where he underwent two operations for blood-poisonirg, and for a few days the case was regarded as fairly serious. However, although he is still in hospital, the latest reports are favourable. A few days after the boy was taken ill Mr. Winter noticed a rubbish fire he had made had caught some dry grass and as it was spreading and liable to cause damage, he decided to carry some water and put it out. As he was crossing the burnt patch his foot went into a hole and some live ashes fell into his shoe. Before he could take it off his foot was badly burnt at the instep. He also had to go to Rotorua for treatment, and has been confined to his bed for the past fortnight, and it will be some time before his foot is thoroughly healed. Last hreek Mr. Winter’s daughter, Heather, aged six, while playing with other children, had the misfortnre to fall and break her arm above the wrist. .The break is mending as well and quickly as can be expected. The residents consider the Winter family have had more than their share of bad luck, and wish the three sufferers a speedy- recovery.
