The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated February 22, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows : New Zealand Wethers and Maidens —Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 7d, 571 bto 641 b 6§d, 651 bto 721 b sid; other brands, 561 b and under Gid, 571 b to 641 b 6id, 651 b to 721 b sid. New Zealand ewes, 641 b and under, 43d.
New Zealand Lambs.—Canterbury quality (new season), 361 b and under 93d, 371 b to 421 b 9Sd, 431 b to 501 b 9£d, seconds, Bid; selected brands, (new season), 361 b and under 9Rd, 371 bto 421 b 9£d; other brands (new season), first quality, 361 b and under 9id, 371 b to 421 b 9Ad; second quality, 301 b, to 321 b average, 83d. Australian Lambs.—Victorian, first quality, 361 b and under Bid, 371 b to 421 b Sid.
Argentine Lambs.—First quality, 361 b and under 7Jd, 371 b to 421 b 7scl. New Zealand Beef.—Ox hinds sd, cow fores 33d, cow hinds 41d. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores sd, ox hinds 6ld. New Zealand Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 b to 801 b Bd, 811 b to 991 b 7id, IOOJb to 1201 b 7d; baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b 7d.
Lamb Market.—There is a steady demand but prices have receded a little owing to heavier arrivals. Mutton Market. Lightweight wethers remain steady. Heavyweight wethers easier. Ewes nominal owing to small supplies available. Beef Market.—Firm.
New Zealand Porker Pigs.—Market remains firm at unaltered prices. New Zealand Baconer Pigs.—Market quiet and unchanged.
