HIGHER DAIRYING RETURNS.

MORRINSVILLE FIGURES. £154,591 Already Distributed. Huge Increase on Last Season. Although last month was, in comparison with the preceding ones, comparatively dry, a considerable advance in production and payouts to suppl iers in the Morrinsville district is revealed in the monthly returns frdrii factories. The figures appear phenomenal when a comparison is made, but it will be recalled that in January, 1928, the drought was at its height and production at a low ebb. Nevertheless new records have been established and the payments made to suppliers are higher than for any previous month. The total butter-fat received during January at the Morrinsville, Tatua and Norfolk (Motumaoho) factories amounted to 444,3811 b, compared with 312,1111 b for January, 1928, an increase of 132,2701 b. Of this' Morrinsville contributed 288,815lb (182,5831 b), Tatua 102,6681 b (85,3721 b) and Norfolk 52,8981 b (43,857lb). A corresponding advance is indicated in the cash payouts, which totalled £32,197, compared with £20,580 last year, the increase being £11,617 for the month.

The figures for the season to date are even more arresting, and show an increase in payov.t of £45,700 17s 3d. ■For the period June 1 to January 31 the amount paid to suppliers totalled £184,591 13s 6d, compared with £138,890 16s 3d for the same period in 1928. The totals of the individual factories for the eight months’ period are as follow, last year’s figures being given in parentheses:— Morrinsville. (£80,609 2s sd). Tatua.—£43,23o 9s Id (£37,364 11s 10d). Norfolk.— £24,137 13s 9d (£20,917 2s)- ru.' Unfortunately the policy adopted ’’v the - N.Z.C.D.C. makes it impossible to secure figures relating to production arid distributions to farmers supplying the Morrinsville, Kiwitahi and Te •Runinga factories. WeTe these available the totals for the Morrinsville district would be considerably swollen.
