OBITUARY.
MRS. F. W. HILLS. General regret was felt in I’utans ru on Thursday when it became known that Mrs. F. W. Hills had passed away in the Waikato Hospital the previous day after an illness of nine week§ following the birth of her first child. Deceased, who was only 21 years of age, had been married just under a y 7 ear, the anniversary of her wedding, in fact, being the 20th instant, and her long and protracted struggle against death had excited intense sympathy throughout the district. The late Mrs. Hills was the second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. P. Bentoq, two of Putaruru’s early 7 settlers, and her quiet, loving and gentle disposition endeared her to all with whom she came in contact. She was tile first leader of the Putaruru BibleClass and was a keen member and worker of the Putaruru Methodist Church. The funeral, which took place 4 ml Friday, was attended by a largesium-' her of people, the burial taking place at the Putaruru cemetery 7- 4 Rev. H. Ashworth and Rev. W. T. Brabyn officiated at the gravesjde, both paying tribute to the sterling work and character of the deceased.' The hymn “ Nearer My God to Thee ” was sung at the graveside. Among the many floral tributes were wreaths from the Putaruru Bible Class, New Zealand Perpetual Forests Ltd. and the Seamen’s Mission, Auckland.
