Patetere Club’s Dance. The annual dance of the Patetere Football Club was held on Tuesday evening, there being about 60 couples present. Mr. J. W. Anderson (president) said it gave him great pleasure to hand to the captain of the team (Mr. J. Stewart) the handsome cup presented by Mr. ' Barry and the senior championship banner, both being won by the senior team. He hoped that next year would find them as keen to keep it as they were this year to win it.
Mr. J. Cummings, president of the Matamata Rugby Union, said he had always looked upon the Patetere club as one, if not the strongest supporter ox the Matamata union, both financially and from a playing point of view to the union. The public knew that when Patetere took the field there was always a keen game in store. He said he had been asked to present the caps to the senior members on behalf of that great sport and supporter for many years, Mr. J. W. Anderson. Mr. Cummings then called upon the different members to come forward and Mr. Anderson would “ cap him.” A small presentation was also made to Mr. Harvey Morrow, on behalf of the senior players. Mr. Morrow, who had been a most prominent member of the club for a number of years, left a short time ago to take up his residence in Papakura. Mr. Morrow was handed a handsome rose bowl by the president amid cheers.
The following members received caps: J. Stewart, G. Wilson, Symes, B. Symes, G. Brown, A. Brown, B. Main, J. Main, W. Allen, Shaw, Batley, Fraser, Higgins, Wright, Aoake, Robertson, Morrow, Pascoe. Mr. S. Sarah was the M.C., and the music was supplied by Holland’s orchestra.
