QUEEN CARNIVAL.
FOR MEMORIAL PA^K. A general meeting of members of the Putaruru Bowling, Croquet! and tennis Club was held last week to ' consider means of raising thbney to assist the funds of the Memorial Park. 1 Mrs. Frances reported that a meeting of ladies had decided to hold a dance, but as it was found that more money was required than had' .been expected they recommended the holding of a Queen Carnival. After some discussion this was de- . cided on, the bowling, croquet and tennis clubs to each nominate a queen , for whom the individual clubs Would work. The carnival is to run for the next four months, at the end of which time the leading “ queen ” will be crowned at a grand carnival fete. A number of details were discussed and a great deal of enthusiasm shown. It is understood that already one queen is in the field, and that functions for the support of the respective queens will start as soon as the general election is over.
