Te Aroha Tourney. . The Goldfields ' Stars • and Clothier Shield tourney was played at Te Aroha on Saturday and Monday. Three Matamata rinks and two from each of the other clubs in Goldfields were competing. The holders, ’ the Matamata rink composed of A. Oates, J. Mclntyre, F. Livingstone and G. Stewart (s), again performed creditably, and got into the final, to be played against Adamson (Thames). Incidentally, the Matamata team skipped by J. Green only went down to Stewart by one point.
The two Morrinsville rinks went exceptionally well. Martin, Strand, Bint and Branch (s), won four out of six games and were only kept out of a section tie by the last bowl of one game. Branch was laying the required number to win, with Adamson with a bowl to go. The Thames skip appeared to play thin, hut got the shot and game to go through undefeated.
D. Coghill, R. Buchan, Donald, L. Buchan (s) actually tied for their section, with Stewart’s Matamata rink, but went down in the section tie.
