TROLLING AT ARAPUNI.

ROW BOATS ALLOWED. Putaruru View Accepted. The strong representations made by the Putaruru branch of the Auckland Acclimatisation Society against the regulation prohibiting trolling on Lake Arapuni resulted in the Putaruru compromise being accepted, and a modification permitting trolling from row boats adopted. This amendment was agreed to at a special meeting of the Auckland Society, held for the purpose of re-opening the matter, when the amendment was carried by 12 votes to 5. The result of this vote means that the Government will be approached to amend the restriction, and that the present fly-fishing area will be retained.

Amongst the branches supporting the Putaruru view were Matamata, Huntly, Miranda and Te Aroha, while Te Awamutu and Taumarunui favoured trolling from power boats also. Those against included Papakura, while several others did not reply.
