The New Zealand Meat Producers Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated September 28, 1928, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follow: N.Z. Wethers and Maidens.—Canterbury quality, selected brands, 561 b and under 72d, 571 b to 641 b 7id, 651 b to 721 b 7d ; other brands, 561 b and under 7id, 571 b to 641 b 7id, 651 b to 721 b 7d. N.Z. Ewes.—64lb and under ssd.
N.Z. Lambs.—Canterbury quality, 361 b and under IOId, 371 b to 421 b IOId, 431 b to 501 b 92d, seconds 9ld ; selected brands, 361 b and under IOId, 371 b to 421 b 10id ; other brands : first quality, 361 b and under lOd, 371 b to 421 b lOd ; second quality, 301 b to 321 b average 9 ’d. N.Z. Beef.—Ox fores 4d, ox hinds sid, cow fores 3!d, cow hinds sd. Argentine Chilled Beef.—Ox fores 41d, ox hinds 62d. Frozen Pork.—Porkers, 601 b to 801 b Bd, 811 b to 991 b 7id, 1001 b to 1201 b 7id ; baconers, 1211 b to 1801 b 7§d.
Lamb.—Market is rather slow owing to less demand ; heavy supplies Home-killed meat of all descriptions. Mutton.—Wethers, market is quiet; ewes, market slightly easier. Beef.—Market is steady and quiet. N.Z. Porker Pigs. Market firm with good demand. N.Z. Baconer Pigs.—Nominal prices.
