TOKOROA FREIGHTS.
CONCERTED ACTION. Deputation to Wellington. At a special meeting of the Putaruru Chamber of Commerce at midday on Tuesday Mr. G. G. Griffiths reported on the negotiations following the chamber’s endeavours to secure assistance from the Government in regard to the Tokoroa settlement. Much of the matter was taken in committee, but it was reported that the Matamata County Council, the Tokoroa Dairy Company Ltd. and the Progress League were according their fullest support and that if possible Mr. Anderson, the County Council chairman, would be one of the deputation which it was proposed to send to Wellington. Messrs. J. and J. B. Campbell would represent Tokoroa, while the Chamber of Commerce had yet to appoint its representative. In reply to a question Mr. Griffiths said he would rather someone else were appointed in his stead as it was very inconvenient for him to leave Putaruru at the moment. After some further discussion the chamber unanimously agreed on the proposals already adopted and Mr. Griffiths was appointed as the chamber’s representative.
