BURGLARY AT ARAPUNI.

STORE ENTERED. Night marauders broke into Messrs. E. M. Findlayson’s store at Arapuni on Friday. When the store was opened on Saturday morning it was full of smoke and investigation showed that illegal entry had been made at the rear of the premises. Articles of clothing had teen laid out on the counter ready for icmoval but apparently the “ night birds ” had been disturbed and had made a hasty exit, for nothing was taken. A wax match used had apparently been thrown down and had set fire to a pile of old docket books, which in turn had burned a hole in the floor. Had the occurrence taken place on Saturday night in all probability the store would have been burned down. It is understood that proprietor has made representations to headquarters for resident police protection at Arapuni.
