The following resolution was passed at a meeting of the Waimate branch of the Farmers’ Union : “ That this meeting desires to express its dissatisfaction at the continued difference in prices for superphosphates in the South Island, as compared with the North Island, and the reasons given for same ; and that the Minister of Agriculture shall make it a condition of supply of raw rock phosphate to fertiliser manufacturing companies that the price of superphosphate to consumers shall be the same in both islands.” The resolution is to be forwarded to Mr. J. Eitchener, M.P., who is to be asked to co-operate with South Island members in submitting it to the Prime Minister.
