Stock Sales.

MATAMATA. The upward tendency of rural affairs was reflected in the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s stock sale at Matamata on Wednesday, when the following rates ruled: Beef Cattle.—Medium fat cows, £7 to £ll ss; lighter sorts, £6 15s to £9 2s 6d; medium fat heifers, £7 18s to £lO ss; forward-conditioned cows, £5 to £6 2s; stores, £3 5s to £4 Is; others, £2 7s Cd to £3.

Dairy Cattle.—Choice Jersey heifers, £ll 15s to £l4; backward sorts, £lO to £ll ss; good dairy cows, £9 10s to £11; later calvers, £7 10s to £8 15s; others, £5 10s to £7. Pigs. There were no fat pigs yarded, but there was a fair entry of stores and keen competition. Medium porkers, £2 5s to £2 9s; light porkers, 29s to -34 s 6d; good stores, 23s to 28s; slips, 16s to 21s; weaners, 8s to 12s. Sheep. Fat hoggets 33s to £2; empty ewes, £1 7s. PATETONGA. A good yarding of cattle was offered to a large attendance of buyers at the Patetonga stock sale, conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., on Monday. Bidding was keen and satisfactory rates were realised. Dairy stock were well represented, but there was no outstanding quality. Prices were:— Beef. Fat cows to £lO ; good cows, £8 to £10; fresh-conditioned cows, £4 to £7; yearling Jersey calves to £4; others, £3 to £3 3s. Dairy Cattle.—Heifers, £6 10s to £11; cows, £5 to £9 10s. MORRINSVILLE. | There was an unusually large I yarding of cattle at Dalgety and Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Thursday and a good attendance of buyers. Store cattle, especially bullocks, were very much in demand, and, although prices in some cases failed to reach vendors’ reserves,

competition was keen throughout. Dairy heifers showing quality and close to profit met with spirited bidding but backward and inferior sorts were not sought after. Prices were:— Beef.—Fat cows £6 I2s 6d to £8 15s ; forward-conditioned cows £5 to £6 2s 6d ; store bullocks, four-year £8 Is to £8 10s, three-year £6 15s to £7 10s ; empty two-year Jersey heifers £3 to £4 6s ; yearling Jersey heifers £4 Is. Dairy Stock.—Best dairy cows £9 to £ll 10s ; springing Jersey heifers £lO 10s to £l3 ss, backward £4 10s to £6. Bigs.—Store pigs 22s to 27s ; slips 15s to 19s ; weaners 9s to 11s. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale in the Frankton yards on Tuesday, there was a small entry of fat cattle and values were considerably firmer to the previous week’s sale. A fair yarding of fat sheep was submitted and rates were unchanged. All classes of. pigs sold at late values. Prices were:—

Beef.—Prime fat bullocks, £l4 to £ls; lighter, £l2 14s to 12 15s; extra good quality ’ prime heavy fat cows and heifers, £l3 15s to £l4 2s; prime heavy cows, £l2 6s to £l2 17s 6d; light to medium weight cows and heifers, £lO 8s to £lO 16s; light cows and heifers, £8 12s 6d to £8 18s; good vealers and .ight runners, £4 11s to £5; young, 375; plain and unfinished cows, £6 to £6 12s 6d; store cows, £3 6s to £4 13s; yearling Jersey and cross heifers, £3 12s; bobby calves, 8s to 14s 6d. Sheep.—Prime heavy fat wethers £2 ss, light and unfinished 34s 6d; plain fat ewes, 255; fat hoggets, 28s to 32s 6d. HORSE SALE. There was a fair entry of horses at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s annual horse fair at Matamata on Tuesday. Best draughts brought from £25 10s to £3l. A good quality of draughts were offered, bids reaching £35 to £4O, but failed to reach the reserve. Active medium draughts £22 10s to £2B 10s, this class not being in keen demand; lighter sorts, £ls to £2l; hacks, £6 to £9; squibs, 10s to £2; unbroken horses, £lB to £33; draught foals, £l3 to £l7.
