PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.

ANNUAL MEETING. The annual business meeting of the Tirau-Putaruru Presbyterian Church was held at Tirau and was largely attended. Rev. A. C. Hampton, Matamata, presided, and the different reports were given by Messrs. J. W. Amoore, Maeky, Coubrough, B. Amoore, J. Gawith and Mrs. Spedding. All the reports showed that marked progress had been made during the year in nearly every place. The minister, Rev. Brabyn, officiated at 10 marriages, 30 baptisms and 1 funeral, and the membership was given as totalling 66.

The balance-sheet showed a record revenue, with a credit balance of £l3. As a mark of appreciation of Mr. Brabyn’s services it was decided to vote him an additional £lO towards car expenses and also to increase the stipend by £25. It was decided to proceed with the erection of a substantial six-roomed manse at Tirau and the plans of same were adopted. A motion of sympathy with Rev. Brabyn in the loss of his father was agreed to. During the evening anthems were nicely rendered by the choir and solos were most acceptably given by Miss Watson, Mr. Tong and Mr. G. Brown. Refreshments were supplied by the ladies and concluded a very optimistic meeting.
