PUTARURU TOWN BOARD.

81-MONTHLY MEETING. The last ordinary meeting of the Putaruru Town Board was attended by the following commissioners : Messrs. G. G. Griffiths (chairman), W. Yandle, C. C. Neal, A. E. Barr Brown, H. W. Lindsey, K. McDermott and J. C. Tomalin. Receiving Depot. The Thames Valley Electric Power Board wrote stating that the Town Board’s application for a receiving depot to be opened in Putaruru had been granted and that a small building, to be opened on the 20th of each month, would shortly be erected. Overdraft. The Putaruru branch of the Bank of New Zealand, referring to the board’s application for a continuance of the overdraft limit of £650, requested a statement of the revenue receivable for the year. In reply the clerk gave the following figures : Rates £459 12s 2d, penalty £l6 Is 2d, subsidy £76 Os 7d, licenses £239 11s 4d, hail rents £372, total £1163 5s 3d. In addition an amount of £417 was receivable in respect to sanitary ftees, which amount was practically balanced by payments to the sanitary contractor. Show Night. Mr. C. D. Brown wrote applying for |he use of the Town Hall on the Friday preceding the flower show. The honorary secretary of the Anglican Daffodil Show Committee wrote asking for the use of the Town Hall for the annual show. It was decided that both applications be granted, the hall to be let at half rates for the pictures. Putaruru Domain. The Department of Lands and Survey and the solicitors to Mrs. Campbell, Hawke'S' Bay, wrote requesting information as to whether 'any final decision had been arrived at \vith, reference to the Putaruru Domain.

The chairman reported , that headway had been made but that there was a legal point outstanding. ■ He hoped to he in a position to make a full report to the board at the next meeting. “ Bequeathed.” An Auckland resident wrote “ giving and bequeathing ” a section to the Town Board in full settlement of all rates owing by him. (Laughter.) Mr. Barr Brown : Is it worth anything ? The clerk said the section could not be thus disposed of, but the solicitor to the company concerned was dealing with the matter and would pay the. rates. Subsidy. The Treasury Department notified the board that subsidy on rates payable for the period March 31, 1927, to June 30, 1928, amounted to £76 Os 7d, of which sum £75 had been advanced.
