By jumping clear when his motor jigger was struck by the early morning train to Rotorua on Saturday Mr. J. Roach,' inspector of permanentways, escaped death. Mr. Roach was coming from Walton to Kiwitahi when the train caught him. He had v just time to jump off the jigger, N which was smashed to pieces.
