CLEARING SALES. Mr. T. Thompson, Waharoa. At Mr. T. Thompson’s clearance sale at Waharoa on Tuesday, by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co., there was a very good attendance. Choice dairy cows, £ls to £l7 10s; medium sorts, £l2 10s to £ls; lighter, £9 10s to £l2; heifers, £lO 10s to £l2 15s; lighter sorts up to £9 10s; aged pedigree bull, 18gns; 2-year-old pedigree bull, lOgns. Pedigree heifers brought up to 23gns. Farm horses realised £23 10s and £27 10s.

Furniture, farm implemencs and sundries brought unusually high prices. MATAMATA. There was an average yarding at the sale conducted at Matamata on Wednesday by Dalgety and Co. Late rates were maintained throughout, In both the cattle and pig sections, competition was particularly keen. Prices were as follows: Cattle.—Fat cows, £6 10s to £7 16s; fat heifers, £7 6s to £7 16s; forward conditioned cows, £3 5s to £4 12s 6d; stores, £2 to £2 15s; cows in calf (low condition), £3 3s; dairy cows, £5 to £7 10s. Pigs.—Slips, 17s to 19s 6d; weaners, 8s to 13s 6d; sows in pig, £2 to £2 16s. MORRINSVILLE. There was a heavy yarding of beef at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday. There was brisk competition for prime quality lines, which made good rates. No extra heavy fat cows were yarded. A ready market existed for dairy stock, and high rates were realised by close up heifers in good condition. Store pigs made good prices, other lines' being easier. There was a fair yarding of sheep, which made late rates. No extra heavy fat wethers were offered. Prices were as follow: Beef.—Fat steers, £l3 7s 6d to £l4 15s; forward conditioned steers, £11; fat cows, £6 11s to £7 17s; others, £5 17s to £6 12s 6d; store cows, £3 15s to £4 10s; boner cows, £2 10s to £3 12s 6d; culls, £1 to £2; store steers, £4 12s 6d to £6 4s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 Is to £4; yearling Holstein heifers, £2 15s to £2 18s; smaller, £2 4s to £2 14s; Shorthorn heifers, £2 5s to £2 15s; small, 255; bulls, £5 19s. Sheep.—Medium fat wethers, 39s to £2 Is; forward conditioned wethers, 32s 6d; fat ewes, 29s lOd to 30s 6d; extra prime fat hoggets, S4s to 355; fat hoggets, 24s to 28s 9d; small, 22s 6d; empty ewes, 13s; aged ewes in lamb, 275.

Pigs.—Medium bacor.ers, £3 7s to £3 9s; medium porkers, £2 ss; light, 31s to 355; store pigs, 20s to 255; slips, 13s 6d to 18s 6d; best weaners, 10s 6d to 12s 6d; others, 5s 6d to Bs. Dairy Cattle. Choice Jersey cows and Jersey cross springing heifers, well forward, £lO 10s to £l3; others, £7 10s to £9 10s; backward sorts, £5 15s to £6 ss; dairy cows at profit, £8 10s to £lO ss; backward, £4 10s to £6. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale at Hamilton on Tuesday there was a full yarding of fat cattle, and values were on a par with those reached the previous week. Prices were:— Beef.—Good quality medium weight prime fat steers, ,£l3 5s to £l4 ss; good quality lighter prime, £ll 17s 6d to £l2 10s; well finished light weights, £lO 10s; unfinished and plain £7 17s 6d to £8 10s; medium weight prime young cows and heifers, £8 to £8 15s; lighter, £7 to £7 17s 6d; plain fat cows, £5 15s to £6 15s; unfinished, £4 to £4 10s; boner cows, £3 5s to £4; good vealers and runners, £3 5s to £3 19s; 2 to 2i-year steers, £5 6s to £6 10s; store cows, £3 2s 6d to £3 12s 6d; smaller framed, £2 2s 6d to £2 10s; 18-months empty Shorthorn heifers, £2 10s to £2 12s; best dairycows, early calvers, £ll 15s to £l2 10s; fair sorts, £9 to £10; inferior cows and heifers, £5 to £6 10s; yearling Jersey heifers, £3 15s to £4 4s. Sheep.—There was an average yarding of fat sheep, the quality not being up to the usual standard and prices were easier. m classes of stores also showed tt decline. Medium fat wethers made 35s 6d to 37s 6d; fair fat ewes, 28s to 28s 6d; fat hoggets, 24s 6d to 26s 6d; 4 and 6tooth store wethers, 32s 6d; 2-tooth store wethers, 28s to 29s 6d; 2, 4 and 6-tooth and f.m. ewes in lamb to Romney rams, 30s. Pigs.—A moderate yarding of fat and store pigs was submitted. Baconers eased in values, fat porkers and all classes of stores were slightly

firmer. WAIKATO MARKET REPORT. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company Ltd. reports under date July 9:— Beef.—Although the market is firm there has been no rise, due no doubt to the good yardings coming forward, best prime ox making 36s per 1001 b and prime cow and heifer 32s 6d. Fat Sheep.—The market has been slightly easier, more especially for wethers than ewes and hoggets.

Store Sheep.—A good demand still exists for ewes in lamb, wethers and hoggets at good prices. Store Cattle.—The yardings have been small, chiefly forward and store cows and yearling heifers, with a good demand for all classes. Dairy Cattle.—There is a strong demand for all breeds of springing heifers with butterfat backing ; also good tested herds are meeting with competition. During the last fortnight a number of special heifer and clearing sales have been held, and competition has been keen throughout. Pigs.—The yardings are smaller with a good demand for baconers and porkers ; the latter class have taken a considerable rise in values. There is also a good demand for" good stores, but weaners are still very cheap. Horses. —The only class in demand is good medium active farm horses. We quote:— Bullocks, prime heavy £l3 to £l4 10s, medium £ll to £l2 ; cows, prime heavy £9 to £ll ss, medium £7 to £B, unfinished £4 10s to £5 ; heifers, prime £8 5s to £lO 10s ; good store cows £4 5s to £4 15s ; cull cows £2 to £2 10s ; steers, 4-year forward £8 to £9 ss, 4-year stores £7 10s to £B, 3-year stores £6 10s to £7 15s, 21year stores £5 10s to £6, 18-months £4 5s to £5 ; choice Jersey and Jersey-cross weaner heifers £5 5s to. £6 ; good 2-year in-calf Jersey heifers £ll 10s to £ls. Sheep : Wethers, prime heavy 38s to £2, prime medium 34s to 36s ; ewes, prime heavy 32s to 33s 6d, prime medium 25s to 27s ; hoggets, prime fat 26s 6d to wethers, 4-tooth stores 34s to 36s 6d, 2-tooth stores 30s to 32s ; breeding ewes, sound-mouth 28s 6d to 30s, aged 20s to 22s 6d, 2-tooth 30s to 35s ; hoggets, best woolly store 24s to 275, medium woolly store 22s to 235, best shorn store 22s to 245, medium shorn store 20s to 225, small store 16s to 18s. Pigs : Baconers, prime £4 10s to £4 16s, medium £4 to £4 5s ; porkers, best £3 to £3 3s ; slips 22s to 25s ; weaners 8s to 14s ; good stores 30s to 355. Horses : Draughts, heavy £2B to £34s, medium £25 to £32 ; spring cart sorts £l6 to £lB ; hacks and harness horses £5 to £lO.
