FRIESIAN CATTLE.
MR. E. C. BANKS’ SALE. Breeders of Friesian cattle were present in large numbers at the sale conducted by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on behalf of Mr. E. C. Banks, of Matamata, on Friday. The cattle were in good condition. Heifers and bulls were in demand and realised good prices under spirited bidding. Cows, however, were dull of sale. Half of the heifers were in calf to Dominion King Domino Woodcrest (Carnation King Matador Betty—Dominion Woodcrest Domino), and the remainder to Dominion Robin Hood (Carnation King Matador Betty—Dominion Forest Queen). The highest price paid v'as 33gns for Matamata 306, the purchaser being Mr. F. Thomas, of Horotiu. The highest price paid for a bull was 28gns for Count Ormsby Korndyke Hengerveld, the purchaser being Mr. E. M. Masters, of Hamilton. Mr. Banks paid 180gns for this animal when it was a calf, it being considered the best-bred Ormsby bull ever imported into New Zealand.
