STOCK SALES.
CLEARING SALES. Mr. J. G. Kenyon. Very satisfactory prices were received at the clearing sale at the farm of Mr. J. G. Kenyon, Morrinsville, held by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on Wednesday. The attendance was good and there was brisk bidding on most lines. The offering included 50 dairy cows, mostly Jersey - Shorthorn cross, with the Shorthorn predominating. Some of the stock were heavy in condition, but the majority were in fair nick. The majority sold at between £8 and £lO, with a range of from £6 to £l2 10s. A yearling bull realised lOgns. Pigs sold well, slips bringing from 7s 6d to 255, sows from £2 to £5 10s and a boar £4. Four good farm horses changed hands, the prices ranging from £l6 to £2O. Implements and other chattels made good prices. Mrs. A. M. Squires.
The steady demand existing for good Jersey cows was in evidence at the sale of Mrs. A. M. Squires’ stock, which was held on the owner’s farm at Motumaoho ’on Thursday. The average for the offering was the satisfactory figure of £lO. prices varying for the better sorts from £lO to £l6. Very few changed hands at less than £lO. A number of yearling heifer calves were offered but these failed to reach the owner’s reserve and were passed in at £4 10s. A medium draught farm mare sold at £l9 10s. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Company was the auctioneers.
TIRAU. The Farmers’ Auctioneer! ng Co. held their regular stock sale at Tirau on Thursday, when the following prices ruled for a medium yarding:— Fat heifers, £5 17s 6d; light fat cows, £6 to £6 ss; unfinished sorts, £5 to £5 ss; stores, £2; two and ahalf year old steers, £6 8s; best Jer-sey-cross heifers, £4 19s; others, £3 13s to £4 ss; dry cows, £7 15s to £8 ss. Sheep. Forward conditioned wethers, 375. Pigs—Slips, 19s. MORRINSVILLE. There was a heavy yarding of stock at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday and an unusually large attendance of buyers. Beef was well represented, and though prices were firm there was no rise on last sale. There was a good inquiry for male store cattle, while good store cows and yearling Jerseys made good prices. There was a good yarding of sheep, mutton showing a rising tendency. Weaner pigs and slips were still low in price, while there was little inquiry for porkers and baconers. The offering of pigs was not large. The dairy section was supplemented by some choice Jersey stock offered on behalf of Mr. C. S. Leggett, Motumaoho, and a large line on behalf of Mr. J. Wake, Starkey's road. Good averages were received in both cases. Good forward Jersey heifers were in keen demand and high rates were paid. Prices were as follow: Beef.—Heavy fat steers £l3 2s 6d to £l4, lighter and unfinished £9 8s to £lO 2s ; 3£-year steers £8 16s ; heavy fat heifers £7 11s to £8 4s, lighter £5 12s 6d to £6 5s ; heavy fat cows £8 5s to £9 8s ; medium fat cows £6 15s to £7 13s, lighter £5 5s to £6 2s 6d, unfinished £4 10s to £4 17s 6d ; store cows £3 13s to £4 5s ; cow's with calves to £5 15s ; in-calf Jersey-cross heifers to £5 17s ; Holstein heifer calves £2 2s to £2 13s ; good-quality Jersey calves £4 5s to £4 17s, others £2 4s to £2 18s. Dairy Cattle.—Heifers, backward sorts, £6 10s to £8 ; choice cows £lO 10s to £l2, backward sorts £7 10s to £8 10s.
Sheep.—-Fat wethers 44s ; fat ewes 26s 7d to 27s 6d ; hoggets 26s 2d to 30s ; stores 21s 4d ; forward-condi-tioned ewes 20s ; ewes in lamb, 2tooth to 5-year-old 32s to 35s 6d, failing mouths 19s to 21s 6d. Pigs.—Medium baconers £3 16s to £4 Is ; light baconers £3 3s to £3 12s ; medium porkers £2 to £2 11s ; 6d to 25s ; best weaners 14s to 18s. light porkers 30s to 39s ; slips 20s MATAMATA. There was only a fair yarding of cattle, sheep and pigs at the sale conducted at Matamata on Wednesday by Dalgety and Co. Prices were as follows:—Sheep.—S.M. ewes ,in lamb, 265. Pigs.—Light porkers, £1 15s to £2; small slips, 16s to 19s. Cattle.—Fat cows, £7 5s to £7 16s; forward conditioned cows, £4 5s to £5 13s; store cows, £2 15s to £3 ss; dairy cows, £6 tq US 10s,
