STOCK SALES.
MORRINSVILLE. There was a fair yarding of dairy cows and heifers at the Farmers' Auctioneering Company’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday, but nothing choice was offering, and bidding was not brisk. Improved rates ruled for sheep, of which the entry was a small one. The beef offering was also below the usual size, but prices were firm. No heavy baeoner pigs were yarded. Ruling quotations were reached in most lines, with weaners and slips showing an improving tendency. Prices were:—Beef.—Heavy fat steers, £l3 10s to £l4, medium £l2 10s to £l3; heavy fat cows, £S 10s to £9 17s 6d, medium £7 to £7 17s 6d, lighter £6 5s to £6 lEs; plain and unfinished, £5 11s to £5 ISs; forward conditioned, £4 15s to £5 ss; fresh conditioned stores, £3 15s to £4 10s; boners, £2 to £2 10s; Jersey heifer calves, £3 to £3 12s 6d; potting bulls, £3 15s to £4 10s. Dairy Cattle.—Good heifers, close to profit, to £l3 10s; later calvers, £8 to £10; cows, August calvers, £7 10s to £9; backward cows, £4 15s to £6. A pedigree Jersey, Brookleaf, sold on account of Mr. F. Dickinson, was sold to Mr. J. A. Maxwell, of Matamata, for 22) guineas.
Pigs.—Medium baconers £3 6s to £3 10s, lighter £2 14s to £2 19s; heavy porkers, £2 6s to £2 12s, lighter £1 15s to £2 Is; choppers, light, £1 16s to £3; sows in pig, £3 5s to £4 ss; stores, £1 4s to £1 9s; slips, 16s to 18s; weaners, 8s to 11s Gd. Sheep. Heavy- fat wethers, 375; medium fat ewes, 25s 3d; light fat hoggets, 24s 6d; ewes in lamb, 24s to 295.
MATAMATA. There was a good average yarding of cattle at the usual fortnightly sale conducted at Matamata on Wednesday by- Dalgety- and Co. Late rates were maintained in all divisions, there being a good demand for weaners. Prices were as follow: Cattle: Fat cows, £6 10s. to £7 12s 6d; forward conditioned cows, £3 17s to £5 Is; store cows, £2 5s to £3 2s 6d; bulls, £4 5s to £5 ss; dairy heifers (Jersey-), springers, £ll 5s to £ll 10s; Holstein, in-calf heifers, £7 15s; cows in milk, £7 5s to £9. Pigs: Stores, £1 4s to £1 12s 6d; weaners, 9s to 14s.
HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s weekly sale at Frankton on Tuesday there was a small yarding of beef, a good yarding of fat sheep and a small yarding of store cattle and sheep. There was a good entry of fat pigs with a smaller entry of stores than usual. With the exception of a few prime cows the quality of beef was medium with prices on a par with last week. Sheep were again firm at advanced prices. Baconers were slightly easier, with porkers on the improve; stores and weaners met with good competition. Prices:—
J Beef: Prime heavy cows, £9 11s; I fat heifers, £8 4s; fat cows, £7 11s to ■ £7 18s; plain and unfinished, £6 2s 6d to £6 17s 6d; forward cows, £5 Is to £5 8s; prime quality runners,. "7- to £5 11s; 2-year Red Polled heifUßfin calf, £7 12s; Jersey- heifer calves, £3; choice Jersey springing heifers, £lO 10s; dairy- cows, £5 to £9; 3-year steers, £6 12s; 3-year steers, mixed colours, £5 15s.
Sheep: Extra prime wethers, £2 Is; fat wethers, 37s lOd; small fat wethers, 34s 6d; extra prime fat ewes, S3s Cd; prime fat hoggets, 30s 2d; fat hoggets, small, 22s lid; store hoggets, 19s 6d.
Pigs: Heavy- baconers, £4 5s to £4 11s; medium, £3 12s to £3 17s; light, £3 to £3 ss; heavy porkers, £2 6s to £2 12s; light, 28s to 365; slips, 15s to 17s 6d; weaners, 7s to 12s.
