STOCK SALES.

MORRINSVILLE. There was a good yarding of cattle and sheep, and a heavy offering of pigs at Dalgety and Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Thursday. The attendance of buyers was large, but bidding throughout was erratic. Prices were:— Beef.—Light fat cows, Jersey and Jersey-cross, £5 15s to £6 ss; fat heifers, £5 5s to £6 2s 6d; forward cows, £3 5s 6d to £4 2s 6d; store cows, £1 11s to £2 15s; 31-year steers, £5 10s to £7; Jersey weaner l.eifer calves, £2 15s to £3 ss; Jersey heifers, r.w.b., £4 4s to £4 ISs. Dairy Cattle.—Cows, £7 to £8 10s. Sheep.—Fat wethers, 335; ewes in lrmb, £1 4s 6d. P\gs.—Forward stores, 16s, 20s to 22s 6d; weaners, 6s to 13s 6d. MATAMATA. There was a very heavy yarding of all classes of cattle at the fortnightly sale of the Farmers’ Auctiemeering Co. at Matamata on Wednesday, when prices were firm at late rates. In the pig section there was a heavy yarding of baconers, porkers, and good stores and weaners, prices for fats being equal to late rates, while steers were in keen demand. Prices were as follows: Cattle.—Heavy fat cows £8 10s to £lO ss, medium. £7 to £8 2s, lighter £5 16s to £6 15s; forward conditioned cows, £4 13s to £5 10s; fresh-con-ditioned stores, £3 13s to £4 2s 6d; others, £2 12s to £3 7s; 18-months and 2-year store steers, £5 10s to £5 13s; smaller, £3 19s to £4 4s; potting bulls, £4 to £6 7s 6d; Jersey heifer calves, £2 15s to £3 Is; smaller mixed colour, 255; 2-year in-calf Jersey cross heifers, well forward £8 to £9 ss, others £7 10s to £7 15s.

Sheep.—Small yarding. Forward conditioned lambs, 20s Od; store ewes, 12s. Figs. Heavy baconers £4 7s to £4 13s, medium £3 16s to £4 Is. lighter £2 18s to £3 7s; heavy porkers £2 15s to £3 ss, medium £2 4s to £2 11s, lighter £1 14s to £1 l 9s > stores, 19s to 25s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 15s 6d; weaners, 6s to 11s.

FRANKTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday, there was a full yarding of stock of allclasses. Beef maintained late ■ and mutton was in firm demand. A large entry of good quality store to forward bullocks was submitted; competition for this class was not as keen as at other late sales. However, the -whole entiy was cleared at satisfactory prices. There was an extra heavv yarding of fat and store pigs and the competition for fats was firm, while stores were dull of sale. Beef—Medium weight prime steers sold to £l3 15s, lighter £ll 15s; best prime fat cows £8 10s to £9 12s 6d, medium weights £7 5s to £9 7s 6d, light £6 5s to £7; good runners, £4 Is to £4 19s; young and light vealers, £1 19s to £2 17s 6d. Store Cattle. —Good forward conditioned 3 and 4-year Hereford bullocks, £8 10s to £9 ss; Shorthorns, same age, £S 10s to £9 16s; rough steers, £5 10s to £6. A line of fresh conditioned empty Polled Angus coves made from £5 2s 6d’to £6 2s. Sheep.—Prime fat wethers, 32s 3d to 335; unfinished wethers, 27s to 295; fat ewes sold to 24s 3d; prime fat lambs, 265; lighter 22s Id; small 18s 6d; 4 and 5-year ewes in lamb to Southdown ram, 29s 6d. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £4 to £5 10s; light, £3 8s to £3 12s; heavy porkers, £2 15s to £3 3s; light, 35s to £2 ss; slips, 10s to 13s; weaners, 4s to Bs. WAIHOU.

There was an extra heavy yarding of cattle and pigs, and a medium yarding of sheep, at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s fortnightly stock sale at Waihou last week. Practically the whole offering was quitted at late rates, with competition keen. Trices are:—

Sheep.—Fat wethers, 32s 6d to 33s Cd; fat ewes, 25s to 265; light fat lambs, 22s 6d; shorn store lambs, 15s 6d to 16s 9d; shorn store lambs, smaller, 12s 3d.

Beef.—Heavy fat cows, £8 5s to £9 7s; medium, £6 16s to £7 15s; light £5 18s to £6 10s; plain and unfinished, £5 5s to £5 12s 6d; fresh stores, £3 19s to £4 17s; others, £2 10s to £3 12s; boners, 30s to 395; 2-year in T calf heifers, £8; best Jersey heifer calves, £3 Is to £3 11s; others, smaller, £2 5s to £2 13s; late cal vers, SOs to 345; springing cows and heifers, £6 5s to £8 10s; bulls for export, £3 5s to £6. Pigs.—Heavy baconers, £4 3s to £3 6s; medium baconers, £3 12s to £3 19s; light baconers, £2 15s to £3 3s; heavy porkers, £2 16s to £3 Is; medium porkers, £2 4s to £2 10s; lighter porkers, 34s to 395; stores, 17s 6d to 22s 6d; slips, 12s 6d to 16s; weaners, 6s to 9s 6d.
