Knowing that her end was near, Miss Ruth Snyder, who was recently electrocuted in New York for the murder of her husband, dressed with elaborate care. She wore a fashionable knee-length black frock, says Reuter, and there was even a touch of incongruous gaiety about her attire, for when she sat down in the chair it was seen that she was wearing bright green underclothing, and chic garters. As the executioner went forward to adjust the straps and metal fastenings, Mrs. Snyder lifted her head and said in a low
voice: “ Forgive them, Father, for they know not what they do.” A moment later and the black mask was adjusted and the switch turned on. One shock lasting two minutes was given and she was dead. A little earlier she said: “I sinned grieviously. and I hope the ending of my life will be a lesson to the world.”
