SATURDAY’S GAMES. Wells Singles Champion. On Saturday the final of the men’s championship of the Matamata club was decided. By defeating O’Halloran and Ward respectively Wells and Bassett qualified for the final. Wells won kll three sets against Bassett, taking the final rather easily for 6—2, but during the second and third he was kept hard at work. The details are:—Wells beat O’Halloran, 11—9, 6—l ; Bassett beat Ward, 6—2, 6—l. Final : Wells beat Bassett, 6—2, 9—7, 7—5.
