LICHFIELD V. PUTARURU. Rugby Players in Putaruru are showing commendable keenness in getting in early practice, and to this end a friendly match was played against Lichfield last week-end. The game was played at Lichfield, and the home team was strengthened by the inclusion of several Tokoroa players. For Lichfield, R. Allwood scored two tries, and Ongle kicked a penalty goal.

For Putaruru, C. Brown scored two tries, and converted one. Good form was displayed by several players on both sides, and at the conclusion of the game both teams were hospitably entertained by local ladies. Scores: Lichfield, 2 tries, 1 penalty goal, 9 points; Putaruru, 2 tries, 1 converted, 8 points.
