A vicious attack by a sow was made on a child named Thomas Herbert, the 15-months’-old son of Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Herbert, of Korito, recently (reports the Stratford Evening Post). While the mother was picking blackberries on the side of the road a sow with a litter came along. The little fellow attempted to play with the young pigs and was attacked by the sow. He was taken to a doctor, who found it necessary to ir-seit 18 stitches in the head and face.
Loud laughter, in which the magistrate joined, was held in a Sydney court recently, when a constable complained that an accused person had been highely impertinent to him. “ I said to him,” explained the constable: “ What are you ridin’ through the town at that rate for?” He says: “ I’m ir. a hurry—l want to get to Queensland.” I says: “ What are you goin’ to Queensland for?” Says he: “I want to buy a banana.” (Loud laughter).
