MATAMATA V. PUTARURU. An inter-club match between Matamata and Putaruru was played on Saturday at Putaruru. The result was a win for Matamata by 19 matches 173 games to 3 matches 88 games. Details of the games, Putaruru players being mentioned first in each ease, are:—
• Ladies’ Singles.—Mrs. Hooper lost to Miss N. Beverley 2—6, Miss Wheeler lost to Miss M. Beverley o—6, Mrs. Alcorn lost to Miss Mathaeson I—6, Mrs. Snell lost to Miss Beil o—6, Mrs. Fendall lost to Miss Robinson o—6, Miss Rolfe lost to Mrs. McCardle 2—6.
Men’s Singles.—Johnston lost to Laurenson 3—9, Reid beat Ward I > Schrasst lost to Bassett 3—9, Dukeson beat Keeley 9—B, Bodmin lost to Wells 4—9, Peters lost to Egan 6—9, Edmonds beat Hitchcock 9—6.
Men s Doubles. Thompson and Reid lost to Laurenson and Ward 3—9, Schrasst and Dukeson lost to Wells and Bassett B—9, Bodmin and Peters lost to Keeley and Egan 7 9.
Ladies’ Doubles.—Mesdames Hooper and Alcorn lost to Misses N. and M. Beverley I—6, Mrs. Snell and Miss Wheeler lost to Misses Mathieson and Bell o—6, Mrs. Fendall and Miss Rolfe lost to Mesdames Robinson and McCardle 2—6.
Combined Doubles.—Mrs. Hooper and Ihompson lost to Miss N. Beverley and Laurenson 6—12, Miss Wheeler am loat to Miss M.
