“ Please try to imagine that you are talking to a child, and explain the matter as simply as possible,” pleaded counsel in cross-examining an expert veterinary witness in a case of alleged cruelty in the Magistrate’s Court at New Plymouth. “ But I know I’m not talking to a child,” objected the witness. “ I know I’m talking to a pretty shrewd man.”
