Wednesfield, an urban district of Wolverhampton, has improved upon Pudsey’s example of erecting council dwellings, let at a weekly rent of ss, by building 24 houses which will be let at 4s 6d per week rent, or 7s weekly including rates. Mr. F. T. Grundy, of Burley, who was 78 on October 10 last, has retired after being for nearly 70 years a weaver at Spafield Mill, belonging to Messrs. John Kay and Sons. He began work at 2s 6d a week on October 8, 1857, two days before he was eight years of age, and has been there ever since chiefly as a six-loom weaver.
