DAIRY FACTORY RETURNS.
MORRINSVILLE AREA. Decrease in Production. The extent to which the drought has retarded dairy production in the Morrinsville district is reflected in the returns for January of the companies operating in the district. The Tatua factory shows a decrease of 20 per cent., and in spite of an increased rate of payout the distribution was below that of last year. At Norfolk, too, there has been a marked decline both in production and total payout. The Morrinsville returns record a slight rise on last January. The figures are as follow, those of January 1927 being given in parentheses : Morrinsville. Pounds of butterfat 182,878.1 (177,386.7), payout Is 3d (Is lid), distribution £11,427 8s 6d (£9960 14s 7d). Tatua (Tatuanui). Pounds milk 2,129,223 (2,530,301), test 4 (4.04), pounds butterfat 85,332 (102,465), payout Is 5d (Is 3d), distribution £6047 3s 8d (£6284 15s 3d).

T The Hinuera Company paid out la 2d per pound for butterfat for the January supply. This is clear of all deductions and is no doubt based upon the company’s thoughtful policy; of keeping a little in hand for the winter bonus.
