STOCK SALES.

TIRAU. There was a fair yarding of cattle and sheep at the Tirau stock sale (F.A.C.) last week, but very few pens of pigs and little demand for them. MORRINSVILLE. The Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s sale at Morrinsville on Friday was attended by an unusually large number of buyers. The yarding was a large one, and bidding generally was brisker than at last sale. The offering of cattle was very fair, cull cows being more numerous than usual. This can be traced to the drought, farmers weeding out their herds to accommodate their size to the quantity of feed available. Little good - quality beef came forward. Sheep were easier, although good ewes sold well. , Few store lambs were yarded. A tendency for store pigs to improve slightly was noticeable. This was due to a smaller yarding and more competition. Fat pigs did not improve. Weancr pigs advanced slightly, although rates are still low. Prices were as follow: Beef.—Heavy fat cows, £6 to £7; fat heifers, £5 9s to £7; medium weight cows, £5 2s fid to £5 14s; light fat cows, £4 10s to £4 16s; good quality medium weight fat bullocks, £lO 10s; fresh cows, £3 10s to £4 ss; store cows, £2 4s to £2 10s; 2-year heifers, r.w.b., £5 to £5 10s; good quality Jersey heifer calves, £3 19s; others, £2 2s to £2 3s; bulls, £2 to £5 ss.
