MOTOR ACCIDENT.

CAR AND LORRY COLLIDE. Passenger Injured. At about 7 o’clock on Tuesdaymorning a heavy motor lorry loaded with manure, and driven by Mr. G. L. Martin, of Putaruru, collided with a. car driven by Mr. G. Iremonger, alsoof Putaruru. The collision occurred at Beca’s corner, where the heavy metalling done to carry the immense loads to Arapuni has formed a high ridge and left the road in a somewhat dangerous state to any but slow-speed traffic owing to the high, narrow camber. Mr. Martin was pro* ceeding from the town, and Mr. Iremonger was coming into Princes street, when the two vehicles met head-on right at the corner. A passenger in the car, Mr. R. A. Phillips, was precipitated through the windscreen and received nasty cuts about the hands and face. The drivers of both vehicles escaped injury, but Mr. Iremonger’s ear was caught by the lbrry and carried for some distance across the road, being somewhat severely damaged in the process.
