COURT AID NOT SOUGHT. By Matamata County. The Hamilton Borough Council-.ad-j vised the Matamata County Council, j at its last meeting, that as one or . two local bodies had been unable to I accept the present basis of allocation 'of heavy traffic fees, arrangements were b> ,ng made to bring the matter before the court. Replying to a request from the council for the names of the two bodies unable to accept the present basis, the Hamilton Borough Council stated that Waipa and Waikato County Councils were the bodies referred to. The former gave no reasons, and the latter had not expressed an opinion. Cr. Judd thought it was “ pretty hot.” There was only one objector, and yet they regretted the parties could not agree. (Laughter). He suggested that the council get in touch with the Waipa County Council and endeavour to assist in a settlement. The chairman pointed out that the objection was to the grants to road boards. The clerk stated that grants to road boards which had lapsed would automatically fall to the Waikato County Council. After further discussion it was agreed to leave the matter in the hands of the works committee, with the object of arranging an agreement with the Waipa and Waikato counties.
