TIRAU.
Mr. G. Wilson has been an inmate of a private hospital' at Maumiata, and underwent an operation on Monday for a facial trouble. The Tirau Bowling Club’s president, Mr. J. Watson, and secretary, Mr. T. Little, have received invitations to an “ At Home ” and Garden Party to be held on the Ellerslie racecourse, from the president of the Dominion Bowling Association and his wife (Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Hardley). Miss Pattie Little and Miss Frances Webster are home from St. Joseph’s, Grey Lynn, for the Christmas and New Year vacation. The hay crops so far harvested at Tirau are all well above the average, and good weather has fern struck in most cases. A of farmers are getting the hay pressed. The kumi-kumi crops generally missed the late frosts of a fortnight ago and these also, as in the last few years, give great promise. Soft turnips have had a good strike, so that given a good summer farm conditions should be most favourable, despite the recent low prices in butter-fat. Altogether it is estimated that 500 acres of kumi-kumis have been sown this season.
