HINUERA.
ANNIVERSARY SERVICES. Anniversary services were held in the Kinuera Methodist Church on Sunday, December 12, when the iiidiences more than taxed the seating capacity of the building. The attraction no doubt was the very fine choir of children, numbering 70 odd, under the baton of Mr. Richard Hawke. The choir held the attention of the gatherings at both services, revealing the careful training received at the hands of their conductor. The renderings, chiefly of the marching order, were all characterised by a fine appreciation of the spirit of the services. Mr. J. Treloar, of Hamilton, was the preacher for the special occasion, and his addresses were frequently lit up by flashes of humour and by shrewd insight into the character of a child, and duly acceptable by young and old. The preacher’s remarks regarding the conduct and ability of the choir and .orchestra were quite justified, and expressed the opinion of everyone present at both services. PADDY’S MARKET. Under the auspices of the above a jumble sale was held in the hall on Thursday evening, and resulted in a profit of about which will go towards improvements at the church.
