MATAMATA. The following prices were realised at Dalgety and Company’s stock sale i on Wednesday:— Fat bullocks up to £lO, fat cows £3 15s to £8 2s, fat heifers £5 to £7,. fresh-conditioned cows £2 5s to £4 2s 6d, bulls £3 to £4 10s, 15-months. Shorthorn heifers (r.w.b.) £3, yearling Jersey-cross heifers £2 to £2 10s,. 15-months 'Shorthorn-cross steers £2 5s to £2 19s, dairy heifers up to £7. Sheep.—Fat shorn ewes 14s, fat shorn two-tooth wethers 21s. Pigs.—Porkers £2 2s to £2 9s, large stores 35s to 38s, slips 34s to 38s, large weaners 20s to 28s, smaller sorts 16s to 21s. MORRINSVILLE. Ihe Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s stock sale at Morrinsville on Friday did not attract the usual full yarding, but December and January sales are seldom as large as those y—held during other months of the year.. ■ The yarding was composed mostly of fat and fresh-conditioned cows, with few store cattle offering. A further -slight decline was noted in the price of beef, which was about 23s per 1001 b for the best ox. There was little competition for the young stock, and a line of 15-months to 35-year steers were passed in at £3 2s 6d for the former and £4 5s for the latter ; some 25-year steers were sold privately.
The dairy cattle offering were strong neithe.r in numbers nor in quality, and the prices obtained were by no means large. The pig market was firm. The prices are:— Beef.—Heavy fat steers £lO 10s to £lO 13s, lighter £8 12s to £8 13s ; heavy fat cows £6 10s to £6 19s, medium-weights £5 5s to £5 12s, fresh-conditioned £4 to £4 18s, storgs £1 11s to £2 2s ; 25-year steers £4 43Dairy Cattle.—Heifers in milk £4 5s to £5 15s; springers £3 10s to £5 10s ; cows in milk £9 15s, springers £7 10s ; potting bulls £2 to £4. Sheep.—Fat shorn ewes 15s 6d to 16s 3d ; fat lambs 19s 6d ; forwardconditioned wethers 18s ; ewes and lambs (mixed ages and in poor condition) 21s lOd. HAMILTON. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Frankton sale on Tuesday, there was a small entry of cow and heifer beef, no ox beef was penned. Prices improved on the previous week’s rates. A fair entry of fat sheep were submitted and sold up to the standard of the previous rate, spring lambs showing a slight improvement. An extra heavy yarding of fat and store pigs came forward. Baconers sold at equal to 53d per lb, prime porkers 6d to 6id per lb, stores at late rates; Beef: Medium weight good quality prime heifers sold to £8 2s; medium prime cows £7 7s 6d, lighter £6 to £6 2s; plain heavy cows £5 3s to £5 14s, rough £4 to £4 10s; light vealers, 32s to 375; fresh-conditioned cows £2 5s to £3 Is; yearling heifers S.H. cross 25s to 355. Sheep: Prime shorn wethers sold to 245, unfinished 19s 6d; extra good prime shorn ewes £1 Is, lighter prime 16s to 17s 4d; prime shorn hoggets 20s 9d; spring lambs, 21s 6d. Pigs: Heavy baconers £3 10s to £3 15s; light £3 to £3 7s; prime porkers, £2 19s to £3 3s; light porkers, £2 9s to £2 14s; slips, 29s to 335; best weaners 24s to 28s; young and small, 11s to ISs.
