ELECTRIC POWER WORKS.
IN THAMES VALLEY. Reports of Progress. Reports of the progress of the electric power works in the Thames Valley Electric Power Board’s area were read at Tuesday’s meeting of the board by the manager (Mr. R. Sprague) and the engineer (Mr. N. G. McLeod). The reports included the following:— . MANAGER’S REPORT. Dodd’s Road.—l would suggest that a further canvass of Dodd’s road be made, owing to applications for power that are now being made. ENGINEER’S REPORT. Maukoro Flaxmill. Operations started at this mill on November 1, the load being approximately 100 k.v.a. O’Donoghue’s Road.—This 3000volt extension has been completed and supply was made available on Ist December. Alexandra Road.—The extension on this road ..has., been pegged out and materials have been distributed. Erection will be started immediately. No. 1 Road.—The telephone line has now been connected to the troubleman’s hut at Springdale. The 11,000-volt through connection has also been completed, except for the switches, which are now being installed. Tirau-Cambridge Road.—Pole erection -on'this road has been completed, also 11,000-volt wiring, except for shackling off. The erection of lowtension wiring and . service lines is proceeding.
Kiwitahi-Walton Road.—The connection between Dickie’s and Harris’ has been completed except for P. and T. protection. The 11,000/3300-volt transformer at McLean’s gate is being shifted to the top of Hutchinson’s road to allow of the 11,000-volt through connection being completed. Walton. Two additional street lights were put into service at the Walton railway overbridge on November 11. Low-tension extensions.—Short lowtension extensions were put into service as follow : Hutchinson’s road (Livingstone’s extension) on November 26, Rotorua road (Seton’s extension) on November 13, Okoroire-Tirau road (railway crossing and Badeley’s extension)._QrL.No.vember. 1.8. Transformers.—A short -extension of the 3000-volt wires was made on the existing poles on Bowler’s road, Peria, and a 3-k.v.a. 3300/415-volt transformer installed. It was made alive on November 26. Owing to increased load, new transformers have been installed as follow: Te Poi (Woolnough’s).—One 75k.v.a., 3300/415 volts ; made alive 26th November, 1926. Additional transformers are to be installed at Carter’s corner and Dixon’s at Walton.
