No clear blue sky above the head, No clean dry earth on which to tread, No lively greens for bowlers’ play, No pleasant times for holiday, No sunshine brightening the earth, No hearts attuned to joy and mirth, No chance the sodden fields to plough. No pastures dry for dairy cow, No river not in constant flood, No road not ankle deep in mud, No weather like it seen before, No swearing that our fathers swore, No lifting of the cloudy roof, No overcoat now weather proof, No such month can we remember, NO-VEMBER! _ j [ j
