WHEN DAD WAS A LAD.
HIS TRICKS AND PRANKS. Adventures On a Raft. Near where Dad lived when he was a lad was an open sewer. A lot of big planks were stacked alongside of ix. Dad and his mates used to place these planks and use them as rafts on the water, which was fairly deep and strong of smell. Without taking the precaution of removing their clothes, one day Dad and another lad started a naval battle. Dad’s craft, was capsized and Dad was precipitated (got him out of the dictionary) into the odourous water. Dad scrambled ashore, took off his etothes, wrung the water out of them, went home, retired to his room, washed out his clothes and put them into the oven to dry, hoping to remove them early next morning. His dad, however, got up earlier than usual. He lit the fire in the range an I set the oven going. He smelt something burning, and investigated. He found boots, socks, and sundry other ' bings roasted and ruined. The sequel fur l her charm for him afier that event
